The Mission as a local church is just a small group of people who love God and love the people in our community. And so, we got together and decided to start a church here in Sunset Beach. 

We are just everyday people. We’re surfers, we’re skaters, we’re fishermen, we’re ocean people, we’re family people...  This is our home. We live & work & play here. 

The Mission is a non-denominational church. That just means “no labels”. We love Jesus and simply want to be led by Him. And so, as a church, we place the highest value and emphasis on studying and teaching God’s word found in the Bible……and on prayer. We know that God hears our prayers. We have seen God answer our prayers and so we are a people dedicated to pray for one another and for this community. 

We also believe that scripture teaches that the church is supposed to be a family, and so, we strive to be extremely relational. Around 60 times in the New Testament the phrase “one another” is used to talk about how we are to relate to and take care of one another. 

• Love one another
• Honor one another above yourselves
• Serve one another in love
• Be patient, bearing with one another in love
• Be kind and compassionate to one another
• In humility, consider others better than yourselves
• Pray for one another 

The church was never intended to be an institution, or just a place where people go on Sunday. It’s a family, a community of believers committed to one another who love, care for, encourage, and challenge one another to be all that God has called them to be. 

 Also, Jesus taught that we are to be on mission in this world (That ‘s the reason for the name).  (John 20:21) Jesus said: “…as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 

It’s not enough that we know the amazing truth and love of Jesus ourselves. But God wants everyone to know, (2 Peter 3:9), and He has called us, His spirit filled church and given us the amazing privilege of telling the world the greatest message ever:  (John 3:16) “For GOD so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

And that is why we started The Mission. Sunset Beach is our home. We live here, work here, and play here, and we love the people of our community  

And we have this most important message of Hope only found in Jesus Christ, and we want everyone to know it.
